Vuma Hills Tented Camp – Mikumi National Park
The Vuma Hills Tented Camp is perched above the trees that stretch over the seemingly endless wilderness to the south-west of Mikumi National Park. Nestled in the forests of the Vuma Mountains that overlook the Mkata Plains it is a splendid retreat from the heat of a day’s safari drive. Mikumi was declared as a National Park in 1964 and is named after the spindle-shaped Borassus palm trees, and where impenetrable forests and mountains to the south-eastern border, and the vast Selous Game Reserve with each of its small isolated ranges include a unique mixture of natural habitats. The national park is well-stocked with big game, a wide variety of birdlife, all set in beautiful golden grasslands, against a backdrops of the Udzungwa and Uluguru Mountains.
