The second largest park in Tanzania, Ruaha National Park is an immense wilderness named after the mighty Ruaha River. This unique river ecosystem provides a vital water source for its wildlife inhabitants, and creates sanctuary for large populations of Hippopotamus and Crocodile, as well as herds of Elephant, Buffalo, Grant’s Gazelle, Lesser Kudu, Greater Kudu, and both the regionally rare Roan and Sable Antelope. During the drier season, the park also attracts Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Jackal, Hyena, Wild Dog, Impala, Eland, Waterbuck, Warthog, and Giraffe. Over 370 bird species have been recorded, offering sightings of the resident Sunbird, Kingfisher, African Grey Hornbill, African Fish Eagle and African Harrier Hawk. The stunning landscape of open grassland plains, rocky escarpments, baobab-studded hills, and dry riverbeds, make it an ideal destination for both an exhilarating walking and boating safari with your guide.
