Set in a stunning location, this national wildlife treasure is surrounded by two distinct mountain ranges which border the park on each side. The Mikumi National Park’s landscape features a vast floodplain dominated by open grasslands that merge with acacia and miombo woodland, covering the lower valley hills where several permanent watering holes provide a safe haven year-round for its residents. The park is teaming in rich wildlife including Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Hippopotamus, Buffalo, Warthog, Wildebeest, Impala, Greater Kudu, Roan and Sable Antelope, African Wild Dog, Lion, Baboon, Crocodile, Python and Monitor Lizard. Well over 400 species of birds have been recorded here including the Lilac-Breasted Roller, Yellow-Throated Longclaw, Bateleur Eagle along with an array of stunning waders. Walking safaris can also be taken in the park to view and experience the full range of wildlife diversity at close quarters.
