International Flights
There are three international airports within Tanzania as follows:
1 – Kilimanjaro. 2 – Dar-Es-Salaam. 3 – Zanzibar Island.
Kilimanjaro – The best airport to arrive for the northern safari route is Kilimanjaro International Airport which is directly connected in Europe by KLM in Amsterdam and Turkish Airlines in Istanbul. Air France will have new schedules from Paris starting November, 2024. And both Ethiopian Airlines and Emirates Airlines operate here.
Dar-Es-Salaam – The best airport to arrive for the southern safari route is Dar-Es-Salaam (Julius Nyerere) International Airport which is directly connected in Europe by KLM in Amsterdam and Turkish Airlines in Istanbul. You can also connect via Cairo with Egypt Air, via Dubai with Emirates Airlines, via Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways, via Addis Ababa with Ethiopian Airlines, via Muscat with Oman Air, or via Doha with Qatar Airways.
Zanzibar – From Europe, with Turkish Airlines in Istanbul you can fly directly to/from Zanzibar International Airport which is also suitable for your island beach holiday and southern safari route. Alternatively you connect through via Dubai with Emirates Airlines, via Addis Ababa with Ethiopian Airlines, or via Doha with Qatar Airways.
N.B. If you fly with KLM, you can also arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and depart from Dar-Es-Salaam International Airport. And from Zanzibar Island, all it takes is an inexpensive domestic scheduled flight to Dar-Es-Salaam International Airport on the final day of your beach holiday.
