Situated in the base of the dramatic Rift Valley escarpment, this coveted area is home to a wide variety of habitats between the wet and dry seasons: from open grassland and floodplain through to abundant acacia woodland and lush green forest. One of Lake Manyara’s most famous spectacles is its tree-climbing Lion, alongside the numerous Leopard, Elephant, Giraffe, Buffalo, Hippopotamus, Baboon, Sykes Monkey, Impala, Bushbuck, Zebra and Wildebeest. In addition, Lake Manyara has over 400 recorded bird species which includes Ostrich, Spoonbill, Heron, Pelican, Egyptian Goose, Cormorant, Hammerkop, and the migratory Pink Flamingo – which arrive here in massive flocks of hundreds and thousands – creating one of Africa’s greatest natural sights over its serene soda lake vista. One of the highlights of the park is that you will have the added opportunity to enjoy both a walking or canoe safari with our expert specialist guides.
