The Tarangire River – after which the park is named – is the only permanent water source that helps sustain the region’s rich array of wildlife. This park features expansive grasslands and floodplains, dotted with acacia, baobab, tamarind, and sausage trees. During the dry season, many migratory animals return to this vital river ecosystem, and making it second only to Ngorongoro in wildlife density. Tarangire National Park is renowned for its tree-climbing Python population, large family groups of Elephants,  alongside numerous Lion, Leopard, Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Gazelle, Waterbuck, Long-Necked Gerenuk, Lesser Kudu, Impala, Fringe-Eared Oryx, and the rare Roan Antelope. And well over 550 bird species have been recorded here, including Ostrich, Kori Bustard, Ashy Starling, Rufous-Tailed Weaver, and Yellow-Collared Lovebird.
